Steampunks Dredge In The Klondike River

Who can imagine what is was like when these machines where mining?

I wonder if they ran on Biodiesel? It looks like a lot of wood stacked on deck, maybe they burned wood? I do not think so. I saw one in Sumpter, OR and it was electric. I guess you could say it was an electric gold miner?

I would love to see one operating. I read someplace that they have some in Russia or Mongolia. There was a couple of Youtube videos but they did not do the machine any justice.

If only we could use them now. With gold near $1400 oz. (Feb, 2011) I am sure it would pay.

anyway I guess it is just a dream. Can you imagine the Green Peace guys if you managed to get one going? It would be a whole new lease on life for them. They could hire more people, solicit more money, hug more trees. 

It would extend the life of the organization into the 22 century.
